We opened the doors of Uncorked in December 2009 with the desire to bring North Raleigh not only a new retail wine shop but a neighborhood gathering place where our customers would have the opportunity to meet new friends and old neighbors and taste, drink, and buy wines in a relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere. When building the concept of Uncorked we spent many hours discussing what would be important to our customers. Of course selection, price, knowledgeable staff and service are important, but beyond all of that the one thing that really matters is that the customer enjoys his or her experience while in the store and likes the wine that he or she takes home. Our journey started with visiting many wine shops and wine bars and in our travels we happened upon the concept of the tasting machines. After much research we decided that the self service tasting machines would be the focus of Uncorked. The concept would allow us to bring our customers the ability to taste a large number of wines for a fraction of the cost of buying each of the bottles. It would also allow customers to shop for new wines without having to know anything about the wine other than whether or not they liked the taste of it.
